I attempted the topsy turvy cake for Abby's surprise party yesterday. This time I didn't cover the entire cake in fondant because buttercream tastes better. But still, the fondant would have given a much smoother finish to the cake. I found a recipe for fondant that some people at the party actually liked. That makes it much less expensive to make these cakes as well. I used it for the bow and accent pieces.(Sorry the picture is fuzzy. I don't know why that happened!)

Would you ever consider hosting a "how to" cake making party? I'd love to know how you even attempt such a feat! My lack of domesticity scares me away from such baking tasks! But I could surely use the encouragement!

Libby, I might post a few cake tips that I've learned. Next time I make a cake I'll take pictures of the process. It isn't that hard - practice is the main thing.

First we had knitting with Nicole. Maybe now we can have cake decorating with Laurie. We should all take turns "sharing" how to do something we're good at!
If there's a cake party, let me know! I decorate cakes by putting edible flowers on them, that's about it!
Let's throw ideas out there of things we want to learn. Then we can do as Danielle suggested, take turns hosting teaching parties, demonstrating the things we're good at. It'd be a real Titus 2 Fun Day! I would love to add fondant icing to my very-limited cake dec know-how.
I have only to learn from all of you; I don't know that I have any domestic art mastered in order to teach any of ya'll anything. But, I would still like to sap the rest of you for all you have to offer if that's ok! :)

Can anybody tell me how to grow tomatoes in a pot? I want to make lots of salsa this summer, but i don't have a place to dig for a garden. Can you make a potted garden containing jalepenos, tomatos, and cilantro?

What an amazing cake! my baking skills are unfortunately minimal to nil. I loath measuring (although I know it can be necessary)! I'd like to join the band wagon in saying that I would love to join the party!
Also, in regards to tomatoes- talk to Ralph Cook. He is giving away tomatoe plants! I am sure that he can also give instructions on how to grow them in doors!
I'd probably grow the tomatoes in a pot by themselves, they can get big and heavy once the tomatoes become full. You might have to stake it up too. But tomatoes aren't hard. Just by the plants at Home Depot or something and get some potting soil and plant. I bought plants and put them right in the ground and they're doing great. I've never planted jalepenos but regular peppers are easy to grow too.
I planted basil, rosemary, thyme, and dill and a huge pot for my back porch so I can step outside and get what I need when cooking. It's so fun! Happy Planting!
